An integral part of the Marais Poitevin, the Pointe de l'Aiguillon is a line of dunes jutting out into the sea. It acts as a sort of funnel and is ideal for bird-watching.
In 1995, 420,000 migratory birds were spotted.

In autumn thousands of these birds leave their breeding grounds to spend the winter in warmer climates (Spain, Africa…) where food is more abundant. With the return of spring these long-distance birds instinctively find their way back to their nesting sites.

... The sea used to come here ... STOP !!!
.... An egret has just landed near here ! … I'll adjust the binoculars… This is a frequent visitor here … ....
It comes here to feed… … Look at its plume and black beak
